Copilot AI Reshapes How 743,000 Accenture Employees Work
What began as a pilot for a few hundred senior leaders scaled to 20,000 users before reaching 743,000 employees, as Accenture proves its commitment to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The global professional services firm is undertaking its largest enterprise deployment of the AI ââtool following significant productivity gains.
Data from 2025 involving 200,000 users shows that 97% of employees completed routine tasks 15 times faster with Copilot, while 53% reported significant improvements in productivity.
Tony Leraris, Accentureâs Chief Information Officer, says: âCopilot is a personal digital colleague. It changes the way our people work, the way they research, ideate, analyse and execute many daily activities.â
A phased deployment
Accentureâs phased deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot allowed the organisation to analyse usage patterns, establish internal guidelines and build confidence before expanding access. The programme was anchored in data strategy, governance and access controls, with deliberate time spent understanding how people were actually using Copilot within Outlook, Teams and Word.
Enablement was hands-on and continuous, combining one-on-one training, regular feature communications and group sessions. A vibrant community on Viva Engage amplified adoption as employees shared daily tips and supported new users.
âIt fostered understanding and inspired people to go off and do their own experimentation and try new things,â says Haley Rosowsky, Global Microsoft Ecosystem Partner Marketing Lead. Targeted demonstrations helped specific personas â especially leaders â translate the tool to their workflows and see tangible value.
According to Tony, the sustained, high adoption achieved through these measures underpinned the decision to extend Copilot to more people at each phase.
Managing workflows
Because Copilot is embedded in the flow of work, integration into Outlook, Teams and Word has accelerated uptake and normalised usage. Employees are using it to manage workflows and analyse data, with touchpoints now spanning almost every facet of the companyâs operations.
In Accentureâs marketing organisation, Copilot is part of the daily creative and communications routine.
Jason Warnke, Senior Managing Director and Global Lead of Accenture Experiences, oversees more than 320 creative professionals across writing, design and video.
Achieving consistency at that scale has long been a challenge.
âOne of the things thatâs massively important in a global organisation like ours is consistency of message. Before Copilot, teams would create something, it would go through a lot of review cycles, and then somebody in another part of the world would say, âThatâs not how we talk about itâ.â
For senior HR leaders, the approach underscores the essentials of enterprise AI adoption: robust data governance, role-based enablement, leader-specific coaching and employee communities that convert experimentation into repeatable practice and measurable productivity.
Writers now use Copilot to draft content and cross-check it against existing materials, ensuring consistency while accelerating turnaround times.
Teams are also using the tool to surface parallel efforts across the organisation, reducing duplication and shortening review cycles.
Designers and marketers are leveraging AI to generate concepts and produce assets aligned to brand guidelines.
With the brand kit embedded in Copilot, nonâcreative teams can selfâserve compliant, onâbrand materials â speeding delivery without sacrificing standards.
On the sales front, Avanade â the 25âyear consulting and technology services joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft â uses Copilot to deliver more customerâfocused insights, helping sellers engage with greater relevance and precision.
Avanade has also built internal sales intelligence tools like D3 to aggregate data and industry context for account teams.
Early results show employees using these tools generate 43% more sales opportunities than those who do not, with research that once took days delivered in seconds.
The tool is enabling junior sellers to operate at a higher level, focusing on the narrative of client conversations and bringing valuable insights to the table from the outset. That lift in capability shortens ramp time and narrows performance gaps across teams.
Adoption has broadened as nonâtechnical roles use the tool in increasingly technical ways, experimenting beyond traditional boundaries to reimagine daily work.
While the technology is powerful, Accenture stresses that outcomes are driven by people – underscoring the importance of roleâbased training, clear guidance and ongoing support as the company scales its AI rollout.
For senior HR leaders, the lesson is clear: pairing disciplined enablement with strong governance and a learning culture turns experimentation into durable performance gains at enterprise scale.
