Tata Motors Appoints D P Nambiar as CHRO

D P Nambiar has been appointed the new Chief Human Resources Officer of Tata Motors, effective May 29, 2026.
He succeeds Sitaram Kandi, who will be taking on the role of Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicles Limited business.
Alongside this, Ranjan Kumar is being appointed Company Secretary, replacing Sudipto Kumar Das, as part of a wider transition in leadership. Ranjan will oversee corporate governance, board processes and compliance responsibilities for the company.
Leadership experience at Tata Consultancy Services
D P has more than 30 years of human resources experience – having spent the majority of his career with Tata Consultancy Services. He has held roles across industry units spanning staffing, corporate functions and business HR globally, working within India, the US and the Netherlands over the course of his career.
Most recently, he held the role of Vice President and Head of HR – Geographies and Corporate Functions. He has played a key role in major recruitment and upskilling initiatives for the company, helping it transform its workforce model to remain agile and competitive.
Sitram, meanwhile, has spent nearly seven years working for Tata Motors – first as a Vice President of HR, where he led Employee Relations and Skill Development for nearly five years before taking on the CHRO role in April 2024.
Before that, he spent more than seven years at General Electric as its Director of HR for its Global Supply Chain in South Asia.
Wider leadership moves bring product innovation
The appointment follows wider leadership shifts at Tata Motors.
In October, Shailesh Chandra was named Managing Director and CEO, with a three year tenure, while Dhiman Gupta was named Chief Financial Officer.
Shailesh has been with the Tata Group since 1995, first joining as a production manager and progressing into senior leadership roles.
As CEO, he is leading the group through significant shifts as the company develops flex-fuel capabilities.
At the company’s Q4 earnings, Shailesh announced that Tata Motors was planning to bring its first flex fuel offering to the market.
“As far as we are concerned, we are very comfortable in terms of technology readiness. By the end of this year or early next year, we should be ready with our flex-fuel product, at least one product,” he said.
The company has also been investing significantly in electric vehicles, with Shailesh sharing that Tata Motors reported its highest ever retail and wholesale sales – as EV sales reached 92,000 units for its previous fiscal year.
Shailesh also shared that the company had seen a “sharp increase,” in EV enquiries and bookings.
Dhiman said of the company’s performance: “Going ahead, we will continue to build on our resilience through a slew of product interventions, and cost-side actions, while the global geopolitical environment and commodity prices continue to remain key monitorable.”
